Biographical Information

Dr. Hestekin's research interests are in the separation of biomolecules, specifically DNA, using microchannel electrophoresis for applications in medicine, agriculture, environmental sciences, and biosecurity. Electrophoresis is the use of an electric field to separate charged molecules based on a difference in electrophoretic mobility, which can result from differences in charge and/or shape or size. Dr. Hestekin is a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and the American Electrophoresis Society.
