Students Establish Scholarship in Honor of Dr. Jim Turpin

A group of students showed their professor the ultimate gift of gratitude. To honor University Professor Jim Turpin, students started a grass roots effort to establish a scholarship in his name.

Approximately thirty graduates of the department put together enough personal and corporate donations to start an endowed scholarship fund for chemical engineering students. Melissa Myrick and Karen Clausen spear-headed the effort. In addition to corporate matching gifts af alumni, Lion Oil and Arkansas Eastman contributed directly to the scholarship endowment.

The Jim Turpin Endowed Fund in Chemical Engineering has surpassed the $25,000 limit it needed to become an endowed scholarship. If anyone would like to make further donations, they can contact the Ralph E. Martin Department of Chemical Engineering.
